Technological developments, particularly in the field of informatics and computer paradigm will affect product design and manufacturing. In the beginning the process of product design and manufacturing is a sequence of processes. However, with the level of competition and increasingly stringent consumer demands for higher product quality will require a new paradigm or a strategy to anticipate this. The development of computer technology, especially the development of software technology enables product design activity and manufacturing performed at a level parallel to and integrated with each other. So that these activities are expected to be fully integrated with the Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (CIM).
In CADCAM integration concept, the basic activities of automated manufacturing and connected to each other. Basic activities of manufacturing in general can be divided into 3 parts, product design, manufacturing planning and manufacturing execution.
1. Product design
This activity includes both the specification defines the geometry of parts and bills of materials (BOM). This design information is a key source of data to move the manufacturing process.
2. Manufacturing planning
This activity begins with good planning tools and capacity planning dibutuhkan.Setelah's new result is a process where the process route, the operator's instructions, the tool control program.
3. Manufacturing Execution
This activity is the most obvious part of the manufacturing system. Its main task is to control the process, tools and production schedule which is all done by the technical and logistical data system. Performance of manufacturing operations are monitored and measured.
